Watch Tanzania's "endless plains" unfold when you fly aboard a privately chartered aircraft from the Serengeti to Arusha with an optional hot air balloon excursion.

Serena Hotels and Safari Lodges

Ideally located in the heart of game reserves and lush mountain villages, these lodges immerse you in the largest concentration of wildlife and offer a unique local experience with tasteful, modern facilities. You will stay in Serena Hotels and Safari Lodges in Arusha, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro, and Serengeti.

Maramboi Tented Camp

Located on the southern shore of Lake Manyara and just outside of the Tarangire National Park, the Maramboi Tented Camp offers stellar views of the Great Rift Valley in classic, luxury-safari style. You'll have your own beautiful tent upon raised wood platforms with a private terrace where you might encounter giraffes, gazelles, warthogs, or zebras. All tents have lovely bathrooms with showers.

Balloon Safari

Enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime, bird’s-eye view of the Serengeti’s magnificent plains and wildlife during an early morning hot-air balloon flight. Take in an unmatched panorama as far as the eye can see as you glide over herds of grazing animals and ancient acacia trees. On landing, enjoy an English breakfast served with sparkling white wine.

Program Itinerary

Day 1 and 2 Arusha, Tanzania

Depart the U.S. and, on the next day, arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport near the city of Arusha, nestled at the foot of Mount Meru and the gateway to Tanzania’s renowned national game parks. Transfer to the deluxe Arusha Serena Hotel, built amid verdant, landscaped coffee fields next to tranquil Lake Duluti.

Day 3 Arusha / Maramboi for Tarangire

After lunch at the Arusha Coffee Plantation, enjoy a picturesque drive to the authentic Maramboi Tented Camp. This evening is the Welcome Reception at the Camp.

Day 4 Tarangire National Park

Rise with the African sun for a game drive after breakfast. Enjoy lunch in the Tarangire Safari Lodge and watch for herds of elephant gathering near the drying riverbed and migratory wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, gazelle, and eland crowding the banks.

Day 5  Maramboi / Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast, check out of Maramboi and take a scenic drive to Lake Manyara. Visit a typical Maasai village to see the local people dressed in colorful traditional vestments. Then, after checking in to the  Lake Manyara Serena Safari Lodge, embark on an afternoon game drive in search of hippopotamus and brilliantly hued flamingo found in pools along the shoreline. 

Day 6 Lake Manyara National Park / Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Learn more about Tanzania’s educational system firsthand during a visit to the Kibaoni Primary School, continuing on to Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge and dinner at the lodge.

Day 7 Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Board a four wheel drive land cruiser and descend 2,000 feet to the floor of Ngorongoro Crater—a sanctuary for hundreds of mammal and bird species—for a morning of game tracking. Look for parades of zebra, wildebeest, gazelle, Cape buffalo, and elephant; watch for the critically endangered black rhinoceros; and look for hippopotamus seeking refuge from the midday sun in the Ngoitokitok Springs. Later, survey the crater and abundant wildlife from your lodge’s viewing terrace, right on the crater’s rim. 

Day 8 Ngorongoro Conservation Area / Serengeti National Park / Olduvai Gorge

Enjoy a scenic drive through the sweeping African plains to the legendary, UNESCO World Heritage-designated Serengeti National Park. Visit the “cradle of mankind” at Olduvai Gorge—the most famous archaeological location in East Africa. Check into the deluxe Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge

Day 9 Serengeti National Park

Experience a sublime spectacle of nature, surrounded by great herds of wildebeest, gazelle, topi, zebra, and Cape buffalo during morning and afternoon game safaris. Opt to participate in an early-morning balloon safari flight for a view from above.

Day 10 Serengeti National Park

On your game drive to the lodge, look for fauna such as Thomson’s gazelle, giraffe, and leopard. This evening, attend the Farewell Reception. 

Day 11 and 12 Arusha / Depart for the U.S. or Canada

Take a privately chartered flight over the "endless fields" of Tanzania and return to Arusha. Continue to the Arusha Serena Hotel for day-room accommodations. This evening, transfer to the airport for your return flight home to the U.S. or Canada,
which arrives the next day.
